Sunday 13 July 2014

Bryn & Gemma were married at Yurtcamp Devon, Liverton, Devon in April this year.
The day started with coverage of the bridal preparations. In amongst the champagne and obligatory breakfast pastries, was the couples young daughter, Amberleigh, who quickly realised how much she enjoyed having her photo taken!
I had to create various distractions to make sure that I was able to capture the images of the Bride and Bridesmaids before the arrival of the suitably understated stretch limo, complete with LED lights and cocktail bar. Gemma was reluctant to be photographed inside it for some reason, and kept telling me that it was the only transport available. Of course it was Gemma.
The entourage then moved onto the Yurtcamp where we were all keeping an eye on the weather. The ceremony being outdoors, with the Wedding Breakfast being held in a giant Teepee. Yep, thats a large tent.
What a venue though!! Fortunately the weather held and we were able to capture the moments of the ceremony and the group shots in a wonderful woodland setting. As the weather started to close in we moved to the teepee and thoroughly enjoyed the after wedding celebrations.

From a photographers point of view, I just love it when you arrive at a venue and look around to see either a quirky intimate location or a grand country house with magnificent grounds. Either option provides lots of scope to get creative!
You generally can't go wrong with old churches either. Whatever the venue I always make sure I have a good scout round to find the detail that everyone else misses, or the view that is passed by due to minds being elsewhere.
After all, that's what I'm there for. To capture not only the moments but also the detail that will be part of the memories of the day.
Some places can seem quite soulless at first, but once it's been decorated then it's a whole new ball game. It's also important to recognise and record the efforts that people make to ensure the bride and groom have a day to remember.
At the vintage wedding of Nick & Roxanne recently, the wedding breakfast was in a marquis on a farm. Doesn't sound very glamorous, but the bride had been collecting all kinds of memorabilia for months and months to provide the most amazing table decorations. From musical instruments, to sewing machines!!! I walked in and just didn't know where to start photographing first. It was truly incredible what they had achieved, although I have no idea what they did with all the stuff afterwards. There must have been a hell of a car boot sale.
Have a look at the attached images and maybe get some ideas for the type of venue you'd like, and for thoughts on what you can achieve.

The New Blog!!!

Write a blog they said, what do you put in a blog I said?! Well I'm going to use it so that as potential clients you can see what makes me tick, and hopefully you can get to know me better through what you read here.

As a Wedding Photographer, I think the most important element that will help us to achieve images that will capture all the moments and emotion of your wedding day, is the relationship between me and the Bride & Groom.  When I say "us", I mean me and you. I'm going to be part of your team to make sure everything goes to plan on your wedding day.

At previous weddings I've done everything from needlework to first aid just to make sure everything works out and to take the stress off my Bride & Groom.

As well as talking through some of my previous weddings, I'll also put some images on the blog as, most importantly, you need to have confidence that I can produce the results. You may even pick up some ideas for things you might like to use on your big day.

Enough of me droning on for now, just so you can put a face to a name then this is me. No, I don't have a helicopter! This was a day out with a local Search and Rescue Sqn., and yes, it was a brilliant day.

Check back soon and we can talk Weddings and photos!!

And if you haven't been to the website yet, then go have a look. Its at www.stephenhorderphotography.com and theres a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Stephen-Horder-Photography/187186771346725?fref=ts
